Associate Programs Manager Position Description at Art Start
Program: Creative Collectives
The Associate Programs Manager oversees our 5 day/week after school program for youth experiencing homelessness. The program engages youth in grades K-8, through homework help and daily creative workshops including Visual Arts, Music, Dance, Food Justice, Gardening etc. The Associate Programs Manager liaises with site staff, Teaching Artists and community partners, to coordinate a variety of STEAM based enrichment activities for Art Start youth and families.
Position Status: Part-Time, W-2 Exempt, Hourly Position
Weekly Hours: 20, On-Site at Bronx-Based Partner, and Remote (following COVID safety guidelines)
Rate: $26-$28/hour + Paid Time Off, Health and 401k Benefits
Location: South Bronx
Qualifications
-Minimum Bachelors of Art or Science Degree
-Track record of successful supervisory experience
-3-5 years direct service with youth
-Background in arts
-Experience in program planning, development & evaluation
-Excellent administrative skills
-Linguistically & Culturally Competent; Knowledge about Surrounding Community
Duties Include:
*Youth Recruitment & Enrollment
-Effectively oversee recruitment and community outreach activities, including the coordination of bilingual information/general language access in recruitment.
-Build positive relationships with neighboring school administrators, teachers and families informing them about the features and benefits of Art Start’s SONYC program through documents, in-person and virtual sessions, incentives, text messaging, etc.
-Create and maintain the existence of special recruitment-based projects such as Family Portrait Project, Parent-Only workshops, Family Nights, and more.
-Take daily attendance and maintain the work scope and SONYC COMPASS compliances
-COVID response: Maintain the organization, health and safety of the workshop and space and remain adaptive to the changing programming needs of COVID including remote activities
*Manage Teaching Artists
-Manage a team of Teaching Artists in collaboration with Deputy Director, including curriculum development, maintaining schedules, meeting regularly.
-Encourage Teaching Artists to attend professional developments
*Creating and Maintaining Networks
-Connect participants to other Art Start opportunities within the organization and through our peer organizations, including following up to solidify the referral/connection.
-Cultivating partnerships with other nonprofits, cultural institutions, donors etc. for the benefit of youth and youth programming at the location
-Make referrals to Art Start leadership for students in need of additional resources.
*Trainings and Professional Development
-DYCD Training, both suggested and required.
-Select professional development training provided by or through Art Start, as needed.
