PS21: Performance Spaces for the 21st Century, the center for innovative performances by leading and emerging dance, music, and theater artists in the heart of Columbia County, NY, is seeking a talented professional for the new position of Director of Individual Giving.
The Director will help deepen our financial health and long-term sustainability as PS21 enters its next chapter, building on our recently opened state-of-the-art facility. PS21 is emerging from the pandemic poised for growth, with strong finances, enhanced artistic vitality, a dedicated board, and an expanding community of new and long-term donors.
The role of Director of Individual Giving (DIG) is critical to our strategic planning over the next 3-5 years. Reporting to the Executive Director, the DIG is a core member of PS21’s leadership team, working to plan and execute long-term strategies for individual giving, research and cultivate new donors and major gifts, and oversee our Producers Circle program.
Position Type, Compensation, and Exempt Status:
The Director of Individual Giving is an exempt employee. PS21 will pay a weekly fixed amount gross fee of $800–$1,200 as complete compensation for services rendered during the term of employment. This compensation is based on an average weekly schedule of 26 hours, with a minimum of 22 hours. It is understood that the DIG’s schedule, as an exempt position, will entail some flexibility to accommodate the additional time necessary during the more active performance and fundraising periods (spring/summer season) and the less active inter-season periods . Contingent on performance, the 5-month-long contract will be extended with the goal of evolving into a full-time position.
Position Overview:
The DIG is an experienced fundraising professional with the knowledge and leadership skills to support and increase PS21’s annual operating budget and manage a part-time development support staff member. We expect PS21’s annual fundraising goals to increase in future years as the Director of Individual Giving systematically and effectively strengthens the organization’s overall fundraising capacity by tapping previously unrealized and under-exploited opportunities in individual giving and special events.
The DIG builds and manages a portfolio of donors and prospects and guides the overall strategy of PS21’s individual gifts solicitation and stewardship efforts. In partnership with the ED, the DIG works closely with the Board of Directors to cultivate direct relationships with individual donors.
Additionally, the DIG assumes a leadership position as a partner with ED and the Board in curating and executing special donor engagement opportunities, such as Producers Circle events, as they pertain to high-level donors.
A senior member of PS21’s team, the DIG works collaboratively with the Grants Writer, Finance Consultant, and Operations Director to keep track of the grants applications calendar.
