Edward Tyler Nahem is looking for a full-time gallery assistant to work front of house. We are seeking someone who has meticulous attention to detail and who possesses a calm, warm, poised demeanor, a strong sense of professionalism and works well with others. Candidates must have experience with and an understanding of the nuances involved in working with global clients and a positive, “can do” attitude. They should also be highly personable with the ability to multitask and write at a formal and high academic level.
Responsibilities include:
-Catalogue works in ArtBase and ArtBinder
-Research and write histories for incoming works of art.
-Writing informative essays on artworks and creating fact sheets
-Auction research using Artnet auction database
-Update gallery’s main website, Artsy and Artnet profiles as instructed
-Work with PR team on social media and PR opportunities
-Assist gallery owner with Holiday Gift distribution for clients and vendors and other projects as needed
-Update and maintain e-mail and mailing lists in ArtBase
-Filing
-Answering telephones
-Maintain library database
-Daily gallery maintenance
Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required and specific knowledge of post war and contemporary artists
-Excellent computer literacy related to Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Suite
-Knowledge of ArtBase and Artbinder a plus
-Must be comfortable speaking with high level clients and daily visitors alike
-Outstanding writing skills
-Ability to perform under pressure
-Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks
-Must be extremely organized and detail oriented
-Must be discreet and confidential
-At least 3 years gallery experience required
-Candidate may be asked to submit writing samples
