Wardell Milan Studios is seeking an experienced studio intern for a Brooklyn-based art studio to assist with production and day to day tasks. You will work closely with the artist and his small team in this position. The ideal candidate for Wardell Milan Studio should be organized, have experience in draftsmanship (painting/drawing), and able to multi-task in an intimate studio environment. Furthermore, the candidate should also take interest in the administrative work needed to run an artist’s studio. Tasks include but are not limited to: aiding artist in production of work, providing support for administrative tasks, and ensuring preparation for upcoming artist lectures and presentations are on schedule, coordinating production tasks between studio supervisor and artist.
In working with a multi-media based artist, the candidate will be able to expand their own artistic knowledge and practice by being introduced to new techniques and working directly alongside the artist himself. Rather than focusing on one aspect of the fine arts industry, the internship provides the candidate with the opportunity to gain skills in both artistic production and arts administration such as working on multiple projects at once, organization, and professional communication which in turn provides the candidate with needed experience to enter further into the field of fine arts upon the end of the internship.
Experience with Photoshop, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is important. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as attention to detail. Focus, self-motivation, and reliability are essential. The position at Wardell Milan Studio is part-time (2 days a week) and pays New York State minimum wage.
